Thatsmyspot fun factpedia:

A bollard in architectural terms is a short post used to create a protective or architectural perimeter. Bollards have been around for thousands of years; in some instances, old disused canons were actually buried into the ground and used as distance marking milestones, or even to tether up animals. Different styles of bollards were then used on wharves to moor boats, and then to protect walls and footpaths and guide traffic as motor vehicles came into existence. But that was a long time ago now!!

Fast forward to today; “bollards” are used for so many varied applications, and made of various materials, depending on what you need them for.

Thatsmyspot.com.au have modified Bollards to protect your parking spot, and our car parking solutions will make your life and parking stress-free!!!

Why use a parking lock or parking barrier?

How many times have you pulled up to park in your designated parking space and someone else has parked there already?? How frustrating!! With all our very simple to use thatsmyspot.com.au parking bollards, you can stop this happening immediately. Just install either a manual or automatic parking lock. Only people who either have a key if it is a manual parking barrier, or a dedicated remote control if it is an automatic parking barrier, or who are authorised as users with the smartphone parking bollards, can make the barrier go up or down to allow access to park. When you want to park in your parking spot, the parking bollard lies flat to the ground so you can park your car on top of it. When you are not using your parking space, then just raise your parking lock, and it blocks others from using your spot.

Why would I choose a manual parking bollard or parking lock as opposed to an automatic or smartphone operated parking barrier?

Purely personal preference, convenience, application for your use and cost. The remote control parking lock is operated by a small remote control, so with the push of a button, you can raise or lower your parking lock. You don’t have to get in and out of your car.

Same with the smartphone operated parking bollard – just use your smartphone to operate. But the advantage of these smartphone operated parking locks is that you can share access with other registered users and they don’t need a remote control. Its all done through the free app on your smartphone.

With all of our manual parking bollards and parking locks, you need to physically hop out of your car, unlock the parking lock with a key or padlock, and then drive into your parking space. The same thing occurs on the way out.

They are all suitable for indoor and outdoor use, so it really depends on the application and the type of vehicles that you are trying to keep out of your parking space.

Can I use my thatsmyspot.com.au parking lock inside and outside?

Absolutely yes. Our complete range of parking bollards are designed for both indoor and outdoor use. They are galvanized, and most models are powder-coated on top of that, and tested in all climatic conditions. All our automatic parking bollards are also waterproof and dustproof to international standard IP67, so rain and dust outdoors are not a problem. All our parking locks are also compliant with Australian industry standard AS2890 for all parking areas.

How do I install my thatsmyspot.com.au parking lock?

Its very simple to do – all our parking bollards and parking locks are surface-mounted for ease of installation and BCA compliance. Just mark out the drill points using the pre-drilled holes in the base plate of each parking bollard base plate. Our parking locks can be installed into either concrete or bitumen. We supply concrete fixings for all our parking bollards, included with your product delivery. These are either M6 hex top concrete ankascrews which are self-threading, or alternatively M8 expansion bolts, depending on which model you purchase. Just drill the holes 50 mm deep as per the base plate layout into your level concrete parking floor and fit your parking barrier to the ground with the fixings supplied.

If you are installing into bitumen, that’s easy too! You never know what’s underneath the asphalt road base, so you will need to drill down first to test it and see how deep it goes. We can guide you through the best installation method for bitumen as well. No need to lay any concrete pads. We can help you get it sorted as easy as!

What happens if someone tries to park over my automatic parking lock?

Ouch that’s going to annoy them! Our automatic parking bollards are designed to be both a visual and audio deterrent. For example, if someone tries to either push your motorised bollard down, or drive over it,  it is designed to flex, and an alarm will immediately sound, warning them to move off. The alarm continues but after 3 seconds the yellow barrier arm will try to reset itself to its upright position. If the car is still parked over it, your remote control parking bollard will stop when it touches the undercarriage of the car, and the alarm will continue to sound. This will continue until the car moves away and the yellow barrier arm can freely go back to its vertical position. In order to protect your automatic parking bollard from damage by an unauthorised parker, we design it to flex and move 180 degrees in either direction but continuing to alarm and warn illegal parkers away! And don’t worry, if your automatic parking lock gets damaged, we have a range of spare parts to suit.

Smartphone Operated Parking Bollards

What happens if someone tries to park over my smartphone parking bollard?

Ouch that’s going to annoy them! Our automatic parking bollards are designed to be both a visual and audio deterrent. Unlike a traditional manual locking bollard, all our automated bollards are designed to flex if someone tries to push them down by unauthorised force.  For example, if someone tries to either push your motorised bollard down, or drive over it,  it is designed to flex, and an alarm will immediately sound, warning them to move off.

For the models without an auto-sensor, the yellow barrier arm will try to reset itself to its upright position after 5 seconds. If the car is still parked over it, it will touch the undercarriage of the car, then stop and the alarm will sound again. This will continue until the car moves away and the yellow barrier arm can freely go back to its vertical position. In order to protect your smartphone parking bollard from damage by an unauthorised parker, we design it to flex and move 180 degrees in either direction but continuing to alarm and warn illegal parkers away!
